Respite Care
A service to relieve caregivers of the constant stress of caring for a chronically ill or elderly loved one.
There are two (2) respite care beds at the Chapleau General Hospital. Persons in respite care are monitored and cared for by medical staff. They may participate in the Activation Department activities.
In order to make this service more affordable, the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care has currently set the cost at $34.53 per day (subject to change). Eligible clients are entitled to a maximum of 30 days at a time, up to 3 times per year.
People Served: Anyone who is caring for a chronically ill or elderly loved one and who requires a short absence from providing care. Persons waiting for admission to a Long-Term Care facility and who require more care than their caregiver is able to provide them.
